Meet the people leading the charge for this exciting new chapter…
A passionate, hands-on CEO, Rob has overseen every aspect of Bay Cities Metal Products since he took the helm in 2018. A twenty-year manufacturing industry veteran and former US Navy Nuclear submarine operator, Rob was CEO of Douglas Steel Supply before his time at BCMP. Known for outside the box thinking and his ability to offer new solutions to old problems, Rob understands the importance of team-building through open communication between all employees, customers, suppliers and stakeholders.
A West Coast native raised in California’s Central Valley, Rob is a dedicated husband and devoted father of two sons: one heading to middle school and one to college. A lifelong baseball fan, when he’s not at Bay Cities or Chavez Ravine, you can find him fishing the rivers and lakes of California.
Ben Hanfling joined Bay Cities in early 2019 with more than sixteen years of experience in construction, manufacturing, roofing and waterproofing. Ben brings a customer-focused perspective to BCMP that permeates all aspects of his work. From developing new business, strengthening existing relationships or managing and implementing new technologies to bring BCMP into the modern era, Ben always has an eye on creating world-class customer service.
Raised in Washington, DC, Ben attended Washington University in St. Louis where he graduated with a BA in Psychology. After stints in Bend, Oregon and San Francisco, he moved to Los Angeles where he spends his free time seeking out great food and live music. He’s also an avid poker player and snowboarder, though not at the same time.
Rikin joins Bay Cities with over fifteen years of accounting and auditing experience in the financial services, retail and manufacturing industries, in addition to four years as the Director of Finance at a Southern California steel service center. As Vice President of Finance overseeing Accounting and Human Resources, Rikin focuses on all financial aspects of BCMP, from strategy and planning to risk assessment and management.
Raised in Chicago, Illinois, Rikin attended Purdue University where he received his BA in Accounting. After spending time in Chicago, New York and San Diego, he now calls Los Angeles home with his wife and two daughters. An avid fan of all sports—as team-player or spectator—he loves spending his free time being a husband and father.
JR comes to Bay Cities with over thirty-one years in the manufacturing, purchasing and sales industries– All here at BCMP. He originally came aboard for outside sales in 1988, moved inside for sales and to update the computers… and ultimately wound up taking over purchasing, inventory, networking and the ERP software. As Vice President of Purchasing, he now oversees all purchasing and inventory at Bay Cities.
In addition to spending time with his wife, six children and one grandson, JR loves fishing for salmon on the Kenai River and pulling in halibut from Cook Inlet during the summer. For the past 18 years, he has raised Louisiana Catahoula Leopard dogs. He feels right at home in the Alaskan cold.
Colvin joined the Bay Cities family in the summer of 2019 after twelve years in the automotive manufacturing and bottled water industries. As Vice President of Operations here at BCMP, Colvin oversees all of our manufacturing operations. Driven to provide world-class service for every customer, his ‘Quality First’ philosophy ripples through every aspect of the metals industry.
A native of Flint, Michigan, Colvin enlisted in the USAF after graduating from Flint-Northern High School. Following his service as an active duty Airman, Colvin became a Six-Sigma Black Belt professional. In addition to traveling and trying new and exotic foods, Colvin spends his free time perfecting the craft of bowling. He recently relocated from Oklahoma City to Southern California.
A valued member of the Bay Cities family for more than fourteen years, Guillermo has thirty years of experience in manufacturing metals. As Vice President of Continuous Improvement, he oversees the integration of robotics and automation for all of Bay Cities’ factory machinery. Always in search of a challenge, Guillermo’s constantly looking for new and more cost-effective ways to streamline workflow and reduce waste– And how best to pass that knowledge and savings onto BCMP’s customers.
After graduating from Brigham Young University Idaho with a BS in Business Management, Guillermo turned his focus to earning his Lean Six Sigma Black Belt. A longtime collector of scale-model tanks (which he plans to assemble someday), Guillermo loves spending his free time with family and traveling abroad.
